Welcome to our website.
Dawn's Place is a non-profit organization that proactively supports women negatively affected by commercial sexual exploitation by providing services to women and raising awareness through education, prevention, public policy reform and community collaborations. We work to improve the lives of sexually exploited women through providing housing, trauma recovery services, vocational training and other services. Dawn's Place was named in honor of a prostituted woman who was murdered in Camden, New Jersey. The recognition of the need for Dawn's Place grew out of the experience of several persons who were members of the Philadelphia Anti-Trafficking Coalition, the Catholic Coalition for Justic and lawers from the Defender Association of Philadelphia. They saw that there was no residence available where trafficked women could have long-term healing and rehabilitative services for the particular experience fo being prostituted. These persons came together to search for a solution, and Dawn's Place residence is part of this solution.
